About James
Bio
My background includes working with younger neighbors and cousins during summer breaks to prepare them for the new school year. Additionally, I’ve volunteered at a local elementary school, assisting students in improving their reading levels and vocabulary skills.
During high school, I served as a California Scholarship Federation tutor for four years, supporting my peers in their academic pursuits. My coursework included numerous AP and Honors classes, such as Biology, Language and Composition, Statistics, Government and Politics, Chemistry, Psychology, English Literature, and Macroeconomics. I successfully passed all my AP exams and state exams, earning college credit along the way.
As a teacher’s assistant for Algebra 1, AP Statistics, and World History, I developed and implemented lesson plans to accommodate various learning styles. For visual learners, I used visual aids and scenarios, while for kinesthetic and auditory learners, I incorporated hands-on activities and discussions.
I have experience tutoring students from pre-K through 12th grade and am adaptable to both one-on-one and group settings. My expertise includes English, social studies, advanced coursework, college application processes, and ACT/SAT test preparation.
What sets me apart is my personalized approach to each student’s needs. I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment, utilizing interactive lessons, practice exercises, and real-world examples to make learning enjoyable and effective.
